Your Key to Digital Security

Think of a digital identity as a key. It’s not good enough to standardize a key alone – locks must be standardized, too, so that the key works correctly within it. To carry on the analogy, a screwdriver or a different key, shouldn’t open the lock. It is essential to know only the right key will open the lock.

In the digital world, SAFE Identity policies standardize digital key making and how people can get and securely use them. The SAFE Qualified Products List (QPL) and associated standards, specifications and test use cases validate the locks, ensuring they only work when using the proper key, thereby ensuring security and interoperability.

What is the SAFE QPL?

The QPL, set to be launched in the coming months, is a public collection of applications and products that have undergone lab testing to confirm that they process identity credentials correctly. Listing on the QPL confirms that an application has undergone cryptographic testing through SAFE Identity and uses digital identities in the way holders, issuers and relying parties expect.

With the SAFE Identity QPL, healthcare organizations can easily discover applications and products that can meet the security and reliability needs of their healthcare organization without the burden of taking on cryptographic testing themselves.

When an organization buys one credential under SAFE Identity, they know that the credential is functional across multiple applications that conform to the SAFE Identity community-driven policies. To be listed on the QPL, all products must be compatible and interoperable with all SAFE certified credentials.

Product Categories on the SAFE QPL

SAFE Identity plans to expand the scope of products on the QPL to encompass several identity related services, including single sign-on, email encryption and even PKI SDKs used in IoT devices, all with the goal of making PKI-enabled products easier to buy, use and interface with. The categories that will be available upon the launch of the QPL will include:
     • SAFE Certified Credential Providers
     • Document Signing Tools

Credential providers interested in listing on the QPL must first cross-certify with the SAFE Identity Bridge Certification Authority (SIBCA). SIBCA is the interoperability mechanism for ensuring trust across independent Certification Authority domains. What We Provide

Rely on the SAFE Trust Framework

The integrity of digital credentials varies widely from one provider to the next. Figuring out who to trust, why to trust them and how their security aligns with your needs can be a challenge. This makes trust hard.

The SAFE Identity Trust Framework, carefully cultivated over 15 years, can make trust much easier. The Trust Framework defines the policies and standards necessary to use secure and interoperable digital credentials that meet your needs. Issuers certified by SAFE are compliant with these policies and standards, ensuring this same security and interoperability across the ecosystem – and making trust a lot simpler for you.
